Gustav Bazin Violin 4/4-SOLD
Gustav Bazin Violin
Paris, France
Year: 1917
4/4
This handsome French violin has a book matched two-piece medium grained maple back displaying fine lateral flaming with deep active optics. Ribs and scroll match. Top is of straight very finely grained spruce. Varnish is a rich medium honey color, is evenly applied, and allows the wood grain show through. There is no antiquing, though there are some minor signs of wear along the edges. The violin is modeled on a Stradivari design, and is an excellent example of French craftsmanship. The edgework is fine, the corners are beautiful, and the varnish is lovely. Ebony pegs, chinrest, and tailpiece keep the classic look intact.
