August Germunder & Sons Violin New York, USA 1910- SOLD

August Germunder & Sons Violin

New York, USA

Year: 1910

Body Length: 356mm

This violin has a two-piece bookmatched maple back with lateral, medium wide, deep optical figuring. Ribs and scroll match. Top is of medium to fine grained spruce. Varnish is a medium burnt umber color over a golden base. Antiquing is a mix of genuine wear and an original feature of these instruments. Varnish color is thinned on the back to simulate shoulder and hand wear, on the top along the edges to simulate extensive handling, and on the scroll to simulate case wear. Edgework and purfing is very nice.  There is a professionally repaired crack on bass side of the top near the neck. The violin is modeled on a Guarneri design.

August Germunder & Sons Violin features:

  • Guarneri model
  • Inspected, adjusted, and set-up in LA Violin Workshop
  • Peter Infield Strings
