Dodam Kim has been a professional violinist and teacher in the Los Angeles area for over ten years. She started learning violin at the age of six in South Korea. Having moved to England during middle school, she joined the Junior Symphony Orchestra at the Royal College of Music in London and continued her studies with Natalia Boyarsky. In 2002 she moved to the US and continued her pursuit of music by joining the Colburn School of Music program. Having taught private lessons from the age of sixteen, she has developed a deep passion for teaching, which ultimately led her to pursue her career as a violin teacher. She studied at UCLA under Guillaume Suture, receiving a full scholarship and a B.A in violin performance. Dodam has performed at Carnegie Hall, Disney Concert Hall, Zipper Hall, and Royce Hall.
Currently, Dodam is teaching at LA Music Academy and her private studio. Her studio consists of beginner to advanced students from age four to seventy. To make lesson and practice time effective and enjoyable, Dodam creates customized lesson plans for her students according to their levels, learning styles, and goals. She organizes a student recital twice a year, which has been a huge success for both the students and audience. Her students actively participate in festivals, competitions and orchestra programs.
